9

Just saw ‘9’  which was directed by Shane Acker and produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (the director of wanted). I was really looking forward to seeing this film because of the style of animation and characters.

The story is basically about the world after an apocalyptic war where the human race has been destroyed. The film starts with the character 9 who is played by Elijah Wood. Throughout the film you find out the reasons why and how the war happened and why the 9 creatures were created.

With the strong cast- Elijah Wood, Christopher Plummer, John C. Reilly and many more and brilliant animation this turned out to be a very good film. At first impressions it feels like this story has been done before. The film is so original though in its style and characters that it is very unique. The visuals of the film are stunning. The only thing i didnt like about the film was that it was fairly short (79 mins)

Overall this has been one of my favourite films recently because of its brilliant animation and stunning visuals.

This film is definitely worth going to see.

Fantastic Mr.Fox

Okay i saw this film today which i was excited to see. I very interested in animation/ illustration and i also used to read Roald Dahl’s books. I really loved the style of this film. The characters were very likeable and the classic story has been ‘bulked up’ into a good film plot. I really enjoyed the style of the animation which had moments of funniness and quirkiness

The strong cast also added to this film- George Clooney was very well suited for the main character. I feel that this film is very good because in my view it appeals to all types of viewers from young to old.

Overall this is a brilliantly original film and i strongly recommend that if you get the chance go and see it.

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

Okay i went to see this film today; I expecteit to be fairly funny considering that it was produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay but unfortunately i didnt think that it was that great. The Goods tried way too hard to be funny and I didnt really find Jeremy Piven that entertaining either. Bit of a let down for any Ferrell fans.

It had the odd parts which were funny- Will Ferrell’s appearances, some quirky bits and one liners.

Overall i was slightly disappointed with this but it’s okay for the odd laugh.

Here is the second trailer for the new film ‘9’ by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov. The film stars Elijah Wood, John C.Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Martin Landau and Christopher Plummer. The film is based on Shane Ackers short animated film in 2005. This film definitely looks very good with its brilliant animation, good cast, and storyline. The visuals of this film look amazing- cant wait to see it!

Here is the latest trailer for the adaptation of Roald Dahl’s story of Fantastic Mr.Fox. It has some brilliant actors doing the voice overs icluding- Bill Murray, George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Owen Wilson and many more.

Mr and Mrs Fox live an idyllic home life with their son Ash and visiting young nephew Kristopherson. But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr Fox’s wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food to go around, the animal’s band together to fight against the evil Farmers — Boggis, Bunce and Bean — who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr Fox at any cost.

This is a film that im really looking forward to seeing and hopefully if it does well there may be further adaptations from Roald Dahl’s books…

Triangle

So today i saw Triangle, the British film featuring Melissa George…

I went to see this film unsure of what to expect. I hadn’t heard much about this film apart from that it was supposedly full of dramatic twists and surprises.

The opening of the film was promising and set the mood well. From the start you are drawn into the character played by Melissa George. As she meets the other characters at the beginning of the film you instantly start to question why she is acting so odd. The group of friends then set off on their boat. They find themselves in the middle of an electrical storm which causes their boat to capsize and they are left floating helplessly in the middle of the ocean. They have a stroke of luck as a huge ship picks them up.

I found the film entertaining at points but i mostly felt disappointed overall as the film was predictable and repetitive.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

This was a film that i had been looking forward to for a very long time. This being Heath Ledgers final appearance in cinema was one of the many reasons to see this film along with the supporting cast including Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law. I had heard that they played the same part as Heath Ledgers character and was unsure how convincing this could be done- it was done brilliantly and the film was original and quirky because of it.

The plot was very wacky and the style of the film suited it well with brilliant special effects. Overall i thought that this film was very good- the main reason to go see it is its originality and amazing cast, but at times can be so bizarre that it becomes confusing

Couples Retreat

This film was light hearted with a good cast. It was fairly funny in parts but i found that the story has been done before and lacked any real originality. Vince Vaughn was funny- but playing the same sort of role that he does in almost every one of his films.

Zombieland

I really wasnt sure what to expect from this film. I was worried that it was going to be just another horror/comedy which rarely seems to feel quite right. I was surprised at how good it actually was. Very much like ‘shaun of the dead’ it combines humour and horror well.

The film has a good cast of young actors including Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and even a cameo from Bill Murray.

The film has a basic plot but the film is full of humour and the horror is convincing. This in my opinion is definitely worth a watch if you enjoyed ‘Shaun of the dead.’
